p {margin: 0; padding: 0;} Date : Imaginary Numbers Imaginary numbers result when a mathematical operation yield the square root 2 of a negative number. For example, in solving the quadratic + 25 = O, the solution yield x2 -25 Thus, the roots of the equation are x: + V-25 The square root of (-25) is called an imaginary number. Actually, any even root (i.e square root, 4th root, 6th root, etc). of a negative number is called an imaginary number All other numbers are called real numbers The name "imaginary" may be some what misleading since imaginary number actually exist and can be used in mathematical operations. They can be aded, subtracted, multiplied and divided. Thus the imaginary number V-25 equals (25)(-1), which equals 5VT. Similary -9 equals (9)(-1), wich equal 3VFT. Thus V-25 and -9 are added by writing them as si and 3; and adding them like arge braic terms. Example: : Combine the Following imagitay numbers: Solution : -16 + V-36 - -V-49 -VI = ,16 +V-36-V-gg- - - VFT: : +61 - 71-1 = 101-81 = 2i Thus, the result is 21=2V-1 = V-A CS Dinindai dengan Camscanner
