Biolab 2: Names and Functions of compound Microscope Parts: Ocule ar lens - Is thepart of the m eroscope that magnifies theimage produced by the microscopes objective So itcan be seenby the human eye. objective lenses - Magnifica ton lenses, it typically has four of the following lenses such as: 4X,10X, tox, and loox. Specimen stage and clips - The stage's flat platform that supports thestiles and the dips hold the slides in place Two stage adjustment knobs - It moves the stage left to right, and frontto back Nosepiece- - Holds the objective lenses and attaches them to the midros o be head. Light source - It is responsible for shining light on the object on the slide. Iris Diaphragm - Controls the brightness of the ight. Field Diaphragm - This controls the amount of light enterms the objective lens. Fine Adjustment Knob - Allows you to focus on he image of the object. Arm and base- - The am is a structural elemen t that connects the head of the microscope to the base. The base is the bottom of the microscope and what it stands on. Scanned with CamScanner
Magnification : 1. If you are vicuins 9 slide using the 4x obsetive lens then the total Magnification of the object will be 40x 2. If you're viewing a slideusing the look objective lens, the total magnifiction will be 1000x Light Brightness: 1 when you have a lower Power lens in place, I would need less light. 2. when you use a higher power lens, I would need to inclease the amount of light I'm using. Light Intensity: 1. you need to adjust the diaphragm So it can help you enhance the contrast and the resolution of the image. Adjusting Focus: 1. The coarse adjustment knsb 2. Coarse adjustment knob 3. Fine adjustment knob 4. Fine adjustment knob you should never use the course focus knob with the 40x or loox lenses because this could break the lens.
