VITALISM - scientific hypothesis that living organisms are fundamentally different from non-living entities because they contain some non- on-physical element or governed by different principles than are indtimate things. MECHANISM - all mather in the universe (living and non-living) obey the some physical and chemical laws, SCIENTIFIC METHOD, All sciences are constantly evolving, aquiring new knowledge, so we use the scientific method - a set of steps followed in a precise order, 1. OBSERVATION 2. QUESTION ? 3. HYPOTHESIS Prediction based on o possible answer 4. EXPERIMENT 5. GATHER DATA REPEAT Refine, alter, expord or reject hypothesis 6.THEORY Compore Groups No difference: Reject hypothesis, create new one Difference: Repeat to confirm, Occept hypothesis
