ROSHAAN AMEERDISCUSSIONPUBLIC SPEAKING Chapter 13 “Novice speakers are unsure of what to do with their body while giving aspeech.” Chapter13pg 240 I can relate to this as I recorded my speech. I noticed myself movingaround figuring out what to do with my hands. I’m unsure as to whether Ipaced over and over to get to the item I needed or if I was just trying toconsole myself. I know that I was very nervous at the time the recordinghappened. I feel like these open nerves affected the way I was able tocompose the speech. It also says in the book that with more practice you will become comfortable and less fidgety I can’t wait to hit a point in public speakingwhere I can articulate and execute a proper speech. It’s hard for camera tocapture you image if you are constantly moving in and out of the camera. I want to learn way to deal with my pacing and wild hand movement. It’samazing how you don’t capture these flaws while you’re making them.Whenever you take a look back at yourself you seem to catch things you’venever noticed before. I also have noticed how I look down trying to focuson the items at hand rather than look up. The thought of being recordedcan really affect you.
I am still practicing not fidgeting around when I talk. That way the cameracan focus and I don’t sabotage myself. I am trying to reflect on my mistakesand moving forward with a new foot. This way I don’t have to deal withthese problems in the long run.
