Highway Project Implementation The Need for Construction Equipment for the Implementation of Highway Projects 1. excavator Excavator is a tool used for excavation work and landfill. This excavator has a rotating arm, so it can be easier to dig the ground to a certain depth. In road construction projects, Excavators are used to dig the ground in the cut and fill work of the project land. 2. Garbage truck
Dump Truck is a truck that has a tiltable tray so that to unload the material just by tilting the material so that the load can slide down. To tilt the tub used by a hydraulic pump. In road construction projects, dump trucks are used to transport materials such as class A foundation aggregates, asphalt, sand and embankment materials. 3. Truck Water Tank Water tank trucks are used to transport air, which is used for compaction work on class A aggregate foundation layers, after the spreading of the material is complete then it is compacted and flushed with water using a water tank. The water tank used in this project has a capacity of 5000 liters. 4. Roller Vibration Vibratory roller is a compactor that combines pressure and vibration. The vibratory roller has good compaction efficiency. This tool can be widely used in all types of compaction work.
5. Motor Grader As part of heavy equipment, the motor grader works as a leveler or spreader which is usually used to level and shape the soil surface. In addition, it is also used to mix and spread soil and asphalt mixture. 6. Roller And Pneumatic For pneumatic tire rollers, the tool consists of inflated rubber tire wheels (pneumatic) so the work area can also be freed from sharp objects that damage the wheels. The arrangement of the front wheels and rear wheels alternates so that the parts that are not run over by the front wheels will be run over by the rear wheels. This tool is especially good for rolling granular materials, also good for rolling hot mix layers as an "intermediate roller". In this project work, the pneumatic roller heavy equipment is used by the SAKAI TS-200 brand with 2 units coming directly from the contactor.
7. Tandem Roller A tandem roller is a roller or compactor consisting of 2 axles (two axles) and 3 axles (three axle tandem rollers). The use of this roller is generally to get a rather smooth surface, for example in grinding asphalt concrete and others. This tandem roller provides the same trajectory on each wheel, weighs between 8 - 14 tons, the additional weight caused by liquid filling (ballasting) ranges from 25% - 60% of the weight of the roller. In order to get increased density in the rolling work, a three axle tandem roller is usually used. tandem roller design should not be used to grind hard and sharp rocks because it will damage the grinding wheels. In this project, the tandem roller roller was imported directly from the contractor. 8. Asphalt Coating
This tool works to spread processed asphalt from an asphalt processing machine, and even out the layer. The construction of the Asphalt Finisher is large enough that it requires a trailer to transport the tools on the project site. The Asphalt Finisher has a centipede-shaped wheel or is called a crawler track with an ungrounded hopper. While under the hopper there is a knife which is also as wide as the hopper. During the spreading process, it starts with loading the asphalt into the hopper. Then the asphalt will immediately fall to the surface and be combed by a knife. To get the desired level of flatness will be regulated by the knife. In this project, the asphalt finisher used is the NIGATA NFB6C brand with a total of 1 unit. The tool comes directly from the contractor 9. Conventional Tools Conventional tools are simple tools that are used to help the work done by the builders. These conventional tools include hand shovels, broom sticks, rakes, traffic cones, strollers and others. 10. Infrared Thermometer
An infrared thermometer is a device for optically detecting temperature—as long as the object is observed, the radiant energy of the light is measured, and is presented as temperature. It offers a fast and accurate method of measuring temperature with objects at a distance and without being touched – ideal situations where the object is moving fast, is far away, is very hot, is in a hazardous environment, and/or there is a need to avoid contaminating the object (e.g., food). medical devices, medicines, products or tests, etc.) 11. Asphalt Distributors Asphalt Distributor is a truck equipped with an asphalt tank, pump and spray bar. In this project, the asphalt distributor comes directly from the contractor. 12. Drill core tool
Core Drill is a tool used to determine/take pavement samples in the field so that the thickness of the pavement can be known and to determine the characteristics of the pavement mixture. In this project, core drill tools were imported from the contractor. Road Project Occupational Health and Safety System Construction K3 Management System Create, implement and maintain procedures for hazard identification, risk assessment and control on an ongoing basis in accordance with the K3 Contract Plan (RK3K) which has been approved by the Work Supervisor. h) Provision of Ventilation All workplaces must have clean air flow. In very dusty workplace conditions, for example where concrete is cut, the use of hazardous chemicals such as adhesives, and in other conditions, the Service Provider must provide respiratory protection equipment such as respirators and eye protection. Construction Project Work Safety Management The procedure for managing work safety in a construction project should refer to the management of work safety and health that has been regulated in the law on work safety. Labor is a very important resource for the implementation of construction work. Skilled workers and expert workers have great potential in efforts to achieve development results that have been determined and are of high quality. Humans as resources who have reason and creativity deserve proper appreciation for their services or expertise as development workers. In relation to the above, it is necessary to pay attention to occupational safety and health for field implementers as follows: 1. Worker Every worker must enter or leave the work location through the entrance provided, and wear an identity card. Every worker must wear a helmet, work shoes and proper clothing to enter the work location. 2. Working Procedures Before starting work, all workers are gathered in their respective sections to receive guidance regarding occupational safety and health in accordance with their respective fields of work. While working, each worker is not allowed to leave the work location or enter another work area without instructions or permission from the foreman / supervisor.
After finishing work, workers must report the results of their work to the foreman / supervisor before leaving their respective work locations. 3. Work location Every foreman / supervisor is required to control the area where the workers are located, it is necessary to ensure that the area is safe before work begins. Any excavation work or other open places which may result in a fall hazard must be provided with safety fences and warning signs. Workers are not allowed to work together in a place (for those working above and below) without good security in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health program. The work location must always be clean and free of trash and unused materials. 4. Other Work Safety Equipment Safety equipment has various types, according to the type of work being done. The tools listed below must always be used as needed, including: protective gearindividual self In addition to individual personal protective equipment that must be used by every employee/worker, other protective equipment is needed as a complement, according to the type of work, where this tool must also be used by each worker according to his needs. Safety equipment for the public, for example, safety facilities for the public must also be considered, for example, installation of safety signs / warning boards 5. Work equipment Every worker must keep the tools used in work from damage and loss, and be responsible for the use of these tools. Use tools in a job according to their needs Tools that are no longer used are immediately returned to the place where they were borrowed/collected. Tools that are damaged or lost on the job, are the responsibility of workers who use these tools. 6. Heavy equipment The maximum speed at the project site is 15 km/hour.
Every heavy equipment that will be operated must be inspected first by the operator. Make sure the tool is in good condition. Operational heavy equipment must be supervised, in order to avoid things that are not desirable. 7. Mechanic Mechanic should repair immediatelytools used in work if the damage has been reported. 8. Fire Fighting Once a fire strikes, it can cause a hazard that can threaten human life, as well as scorch all existing equipment and materials. Most of the fires are caused by human carelessness and negligence. To avoid fire, pay attention to the following: Do not bring fire to a place where there is a "CAUTION OF FIRE" sign. When working with fire, be careful when using it. Take care not to spill oil on the job site. Provide fire extinguishers in the places needed according to the type of fire extinguisher needed. Do not move the fire extinguisher without official approval and check the fire extinguisher once a month. 9. Work accident If a work accident occurs, be it small or large, immediately report it to the foreman/executor, and then to the occupational safety and health officer to get first aid. The foreman/executor must know and report to the occupational safety and health officer the causes of the accident, as well as the time and place of the incident, for further management according to the procedures for handling accidents at the work site. 10. Security Security officers are required to report work activities every day or other important matters that are their responsibility to the head of the guard team, then the head of the guard team reports to the K-3 officer. Every employee is required to report to project security in the event of loss of project
goods, fights, or other matters related to disruption of security conditions at the project site. Furthermore, security officers immediately carry out investigations and coordinate them with occupational safety and health officers, and make written reports to project leaders and company leaders. 11. Sanctions For workers who do not comply with the above regulations, the contractor will issue a warning letter, where if this is also not heeded, the project leader will take action by not allowing the person concerned to be in the project area.
Purpose and Objectives of the Importance of Occupational Health and Safety. Regulations regarding occupational safety and health in the construction sector are intended to ensure that construction work activities are carried out by ensuring occupational safety and health for both the construction activity actors themselves and the environment around the work site. The understanding and application of regulations regarding occupational safety and health is expected to provide benefits for construction work actors such as: Reducing or even avoiding work accidents in the implementation of work, Avoided cessation of construction work activities as a result of work accidents, Avoid losses both material and human life due to work accidents, Avoid a decrease in productivity and efficiency of resources as a result of work accidents.
