Advantages of Training Increase motivation and productivity of employees Higher productivity gives the company a competitive edge It gives a good image of the company to the public More ideas from employees New skills are acquired Better job opportunities for employees internally and externally Types of training Induction -Introduces employees to the business -Ensures new employees are prepared for the job Advantages -Employees are quickly productive -Good first impressions Disadvantages -Expensive -New employees not on job for a few days On the job -Trying it for yourself physically, teaching while doing -Assures employee can perform all aspects of the job Advantages -Specific to job -Easy to organize and to understand -Cost effective Disadvantages -Disrupts normal business activity, experienced workers have to spend time to teach -Trainer must be experienced and have the required skills Off the job -Getting taught verbally, off site
