ROSHAAN AMEERDISCUSSIONPUBLIC SPEAKING "Posture, facial expression, gestures, eye contact - all affect the waylisteners respond to a speaker." I found this sentence important because delivering a good speech goesfurther than just saying the right words. In the past when I've watchedpeople deliver speeches their body language helps me see them as more orless credible. If they look like they know what they're doing then I'm morelikely to believe what they are saying. Expressions and gestures are alsoimportant when capturing the interest of the audience. I've found thatwhen the speaker's gestures and expressions show how interested theyare in a topic, I'm more likely to show interest in the topic, even if it'ssomething I normally wouldn't be intrigued by. I will use this especially when I am speaking outside of this class. WhetherI'm giving a speech or not, I will think about whether my body languagesupports the words that I am saying. When I'm talking about somethingimportant to me I want people to see me as credible and to take interest inthe topic, so I'll use body language to help deliver my intended message.
